Assistant Sprints & Jumps
Lycia is originally from Tampa, Florida, where she began running track for Hillsborough High School. She continued her athletic and academic journey at Southern Wesleyan University in South Carolina, competing in the 200m, 400m, and 800m events. While she enjoyed all three, she specialized in the 800 meters—a race that taught her the value of grit, strategy, and heart.
Lycia's experience running at both the high school and collegiate levels showed her the power of having a supportive team and coaches who truly care—on and off the track. That’s the culture she wants to build and contribute to with the VAST Track and Field family.
For Lycia, coaching goes beyond winning medals or hitting certain times. It's about instilling values like hard work, discipline, and perseverance. These are the qualities that shape athletes not just in competition, but in life. Lycia is here to support each athlete holistically—whether it's through their athletic development, education, or personal growth.
